The Wingfield Waste & Recycling Centre is a world-class resource recovery and waste recycling operation that contains a collaborative cluster of commercial businesses on a site managed by the Adelaide City Council.

The precinct provides a "one stop shop" for waste receipt, processing and recycling by accommodating complementary resource recovery activities. This innovative centre recovers about 87 per cent of the nearly one million tonnes of waste materials delivered to the precinct each year.

When the Wingfield dump closed on December 31, 2004, it was widely recognised as an Adelaide landmark. In its final year, it received more than one million tonnes of waste materials which were used in landfill.

However, the former Wingfield dump property has been reinvented as the Wingfield Waste & Recycling Centre, an internationally recognised waste recovery and recycling facility that has harnessed commercial drivers to deliver significant environmental benefits. Managed by the Adelaide City Council, the 94-hectare precinct has four primary tenants – Amcor; Adelaide Resource Recovery (ARR); Jeffries Group and Transpacific Industries (TPI) – which are each involved in providing state-of-the-art waste recovery and recycling services. Collectively, the site tenants provide a comprehensive waste management facility for:

• Paper and cardboard waste: Amcor
• Construction & demolition waste: ARR
• Green waste: Jeffries Group
• Residual waste: TPI
• Clean soil: ARR.

While each business runs an individually successful commercial operation at the Wingfield Recycling Centre, they collectively make a creative, powerful and positive contribution towards achieving South Australia's environmental and recycling objectives.  This website is desgined to provide a simple overview of the commercial operations at the Wingfield Waste & Recycling Centre and the individual businesses that make it a success.
